Toronto’s MerryBerry Cafe and Bistro

Last weekend, the weather was sunny so my wife and I decided to take a stroll into Toronto’s Cabbagetown (Parliament & Wellesley).

We saw some very cute stores but our biggest find was the recently opened MerryBerry Café + Bistro.

The atmosphere was wonderful, with nature-inspired decor. Magazines were placed at each table for customers to read, creating the feeling that you were right at home. A nice personal touch.

We started off with the soup of the day, and then owners Cyril & Nimmi made us two fantastic sandwiches. My wife had the El Cubanito (smoked ham on a melted cheddar cheese baguette with arugula, avocado and aioli) and I ordered The Lady K (smoked salmon, mango, goat cheese, pesto, roasted red peppers and sprouts on a baguette).

The hall seats 30 but they have a patio in the back (24 people) to act as venue for your next event.

They’ve only been open since early 2011 and haven’t needed to advertise yet to bring in a crowd. That’s how busy they are. And so they should be, as your palate will tell you when you try a sample of their excellent cuisine.
